Hey, its almost been a year since this post has been updated, but just in time. If you don't have an authenticator, reeeeeally should think about buying one. We had another member hacked early in the week. Jurikira had her account hacked, but blizz caught it quickly and locked it before they could do anything.

Even if you don't have a smart phone for one of the free authenticators it IS worth the $10 to protect all your time and effort in game.

There's a free alternative that doesn't require use of an authenticator or program. Called the Dial-In Authenticator, this free (and, again, optional!) service will monitor and track log-ins on your account and then contact you for authorization if an attempt to log into the account is made from somewhere unexpected.

Quote:
If you sign up for the Battle.net Dial-in Authenticator, you will be asked to make a toll-free phone call from a specific phone of your choosing to authorize unusual login attempts with the associated Battle.net account. Please note that you will only be asked to make this phone call when something about your login attempt appears out of the ordinary. For example, if you were to log in from a location from which you do not typically play, you may be asked to call in and provide your selected PIN and a unique, single-use security code before access to the account will be granted.

More information can be found at the Dial-In Authenticator FAQ.

I'll have to point that one out to her.

Getting your account hacked is like having your house robbed. Blizzard will attempt to return your stuff, but the feeling of being violated will be there.

Get an Authenticator.

I don't know anyone who uses the Dial-In Authenticator, Shae, but I've read mostly good stuff about it. It's an awesome option for someone who plays primarily in one place; if you never or rarely access your account from other places, you'll most likely never have to worry about the phone call.

Plus it's free.
