re: Standard City Raid Procedures

First and Foremost, in city raids. Target order is never said in advance. This is to stop spies. And yes there will be spies, we spy on their city defence raids. And they spy on our City Raids.

Secondly, You must have vent. This is not open to debate. If you do not have vent or able to listen in. You will be kicked. Raid Warnings can only go so far.

Third, Follow all of the Raid Leader's directions. Failure to do so will get the raid killed. Raid Leader is usually marked with a Star, but not always.

Please be aware that almost all City Raids are spur of the moment. Very few are planned in advance. With that in mind, yes we use Trade. And we still had countless Raids succeed.

If we get a full 40-man raid quickly ALL cities will fall. If not, we will try, but if the opposition is too much. The raid will go to another city or it will be called. We don't like big repair bills any more than the next person.

That being said, some cities are a lot easier than others. Darnassus for example can be done with 12 people who know what their doing.

Give no quarter and expect none in return

Basic Procedures

Stay on Star
When this is announce in Raid Warning, you are to move to Star. More info about what to do is said over Vent. Usually mount up or buff up.

Staying on Star has the added bonus of making it hard for the other side to pick off the raid one-by-one. There is safety in numbers.

Tanks
Tanks are marked (diamond, square and circle, usually), it is the tanks job to toss aggro around between them to prevent the Leader getting loose and killing the raid. All City Raids have a main tank, this Main Tank has been on City Raids before and knows the pull locations of all Fraction Leaders. The other tanks and DPS are to remain on Standby until the Leader is in proper location for tanking. Getting aggro on the boss before they are in postion can cause the raid to wipe or the boss to reset.

Healers
During transit, try to stay in the middle of the raid. While it is rare that a Defence raid has attacked a City Raid in transit. It's usually best not to tempt fate.

Once the raid is ready to pull the leader, Healers should enter shortly after the tanks. It means heals start sooner and the Raid is between you and the Defence Raid.

Once the tanks have the boss in postion, it is your job to get out of line of slight. By being out of line of slight, you make it a lot harder for the other raid to wipe the raid.

AOE
If you're class that has an AOE, use it. If you are there to DPS the boss, you need to still help the raid. Over Vent it will be annouced when you need to AOE over the Raid, or over the enemy (usually an entry way)

Buffs
Path of Frost, Retribution aura, Crusader aura and Thorns are to be OFF during transit. Crusader aura and Path of Frost is to be off, unless asked for by the raid leader.
Failure to follow this rule, can result in you being kicked from the raid.

The Opposition
These are the guys that will try and stop the raid.

A favourite tatic of Defence Raids everywhere is blueflagging.

For those of you that do not know what Blue Flagging is:

Blueflagging is exploiting the PVP flag system by initiating an attack on a flagged enemy without manually flagging yourself first.

This is usually done to get past the Wall of AOE that the raid is putting down, to stop the ones that are Flagged.

City Choke Points
Beside the Leaders' room, this is where we will meet the most oppostion.

Darnassus
The Dock outside Darnassus, The portal-tree into Darnassus, the entryway to the temple.

Stormwind
The entryway to the tram in Stormwind, The gates of Stormwind, where the harbour meets the rest of Stormwind. Entryway to the Keep and the King's Throne Room

Ironforge
The entryway to the tram in Ironforge. The gates of Ironforge and just outside the King's Throne Room

Exodar
Either of the two entrances to Exodar (rarely) or on the stairs leading to the Prophet (commonly)

Common Tactics
AoE fears, stuns and the occasional deathgrip. These are used against the tanks and healers. mainly the tanks. If a Leader gets loose, they can wipe the raid. Or worse, Reset.
